Update: We have merged our Racial Truth & Reconciliation Engagement Committee and Advocacy & Activism committee meetings, now creating the Grassroots Engagement Committee. For those interested in other committees: the Partnerships & Education committee has been merged as well.
This committee meeting will focus on exploring the roles of activists and advocates in social change while we imagine the goals, opportunities, and ideas we have as a newly merged and re-emerging committee.
The committee leads awareness and community-building events to promote justice in execution of the Racial Truth & Reconciliation Virginia mission and goals. The committee works to connect local-level trends to state policies deconstruct systemic, social, and institutional barriers to achieving an equitable and just society for all. Members of the committee plan and execute advocacy trainings, resources, community assessments, workshops, and events to leave coalition members empowered and prepared to advocate and to support partner policy initiatives and Voices policy agenda on behalf of young people, families, and communities.
