Request for proposals – Equity Consultant

Summary: Voices for Virginia’s Children seeks to hire an experienced equity consultant to conduct an assessment of current policies, culture, and practices, and develop an action plan that will provide the framework for implementing goals contained in its new strategic plan.

Voices for Virginia’s Children is the only non-profit, statewide, non-partisan organization that champions public policies that improve the lives of the Commonwealth’s 1.9 million children.

Our advocacy work is focused in the following areas:  Foster care and adoption; children’s health and mental health; early care and education; and childhood trauma.

Our KIDS COUNT Data Center for Virginia is the foundation of Voices’ advocacy work, allowing us to speak confidently on critical issues that affect the lives of children. Voices has tracked and reported over 200 indicators on the well-being of Virginia’s children for over 20 years.

Purpose: The purpose of this project is to assess equity, diversity, and inclusion in Voices policies, culture, and practices within the organization to optimize our capacity to successfully carry out the goals of our strategic plan.

Expected deliverables:

  • Conduct a staff-wide climate assessment to provide a foundation for future work and to guide staff dialogues.
  • Facilitate as least 2 staff dialogues based on areas of need identified in the climate assessment.
  • Review current personnel policies and make recommendations to enhance staff retention and equity within the organization.
  • Work with staff to create an action plan including goals, metrics for goals, and evaluation mechanisms to track progress.

Successful proposals will include:

  • Clear outline of work and timeline
  • Costs and fees (it would be helpful if fees are broken down by each deliverable cited above)
  • Professional references
  • Examples of successful relevant client work

Proposals should be submitted via email to johanna@vakids.org by 5 pm on March 6th.
