The 2016 General Assembly session is just around the corner—Day 1 is January 13th, 2016. Voices’ policy staff are hard at work pulling together our legislative agenda priorities around children’s health & mental health, early childhood care & education, and child welfare & juvenile justice. Stay tuned for more information, materials, and advocacy opportunities to join us as we champion policies to improve the lives of Virginia’s children.

In the meantime, some pertinent events and deadlines during these critical two months leading up to the start of session:

11/17–11/18: House of Delegates Appropriations Committee Retreat in Northern Virginia

11/19–11/20: Senate Finance Committee Retreat in Portsmouth

12/17: Governor McAuliffe presents his biennial budget bill to Senate Finance/House Appropriations committees (9:30am, House Room D, GAB)

1/7/16: on the proposed State Budget (more info to come)

1/13/16: First day of the 2016 legislative session
