Help us advocate for a Trauma-Informed Virginia!

The mission of Voices for Virginia’s Children is to champion public policies to improve the lives of Virginia’s children. These are laws that we hope will enact change so that all children are able to live long, successful, and healthy lives. Through our Campaign for a Trauma-Informed Virginia, we recognize the impact of adversity and strive to build a Virginia that is able to prevent adverse childhood experiences and respond to trauma should it occur.

We know that advocacy can be tiring, and after a full day of advocacy, we hope to leave advocates inspired and rejuvenated by utilizing art as a form of resiliency. We hope you will be able to join us for the full day! However, we also are thankful if you are able to feature your work in joining our efforts to build a #TraumaInformedVA and be #Voices4Kids!

From 8:30am to 9:00am, we will begin the day with partners at the University of Richmond Downtown (626 East Broad Street, Multipurpose Room B01) in the lower level reception area to hear an overview of the latest issues and talking points. There, you will meet your team leader, who will review your talking points with you and answer any questions you have.

From 9:00am to 11:00am, we will walk down do the General Assembly for appointments scheduled with legislators for advocates who have registered through Voices.

From 11:30am 12pm, partners will have an opportunity to discuss the role they have played in the crafting of the Campaign’s Unified Policy Agenda. They will also talk about the impact some of the policy agenda items have on their day-to-day work.

12 to 1:30pm, at the conclusion of your meetings, you are invited to attend a small reception following the event at U of R Downtown. Artists will join us and feature work that meets the themes, “peace & resiliency.” More details to come!

We are still working on the end-of-day logistics, so please stay tuned for more details!

If you would like to attend the full event, please register here. Email Chloe@vakids.org if you have any questions.
