August 12, 2024
Dear Friends of Voices,
On behalf of the Voices for Virginia’s Children Board of Directors, I am delighted to inform you that the Board has selected Margaret Nimmo Crowe to serve as the organization’s Executive Director, effective October 15.
Our Board is confident that Margaret’s insightful leadership, keen understanding of policy issues and politics, and passion for improving the lives of Virginia’s children will shepherd Voices for Virginia’s Children to new levels of effectiveness and impact.
Margaret brings more than 16 years of nonprofit experience to this new role, including an overall 10-year tenure at Voices, with progressively increasing levels of responsibility. Her most recent service to Voices includes an impressive four-month stint as Acting Executive Director and leadership of the organization’s Campaign for Children’s Mental Health, which has yielded significant positive change for Virginia’s children and strong coalitions with partners and advocates throughout the state.
In addition her experience at Voices, Margaret served as the chairperson of the volunteer Board of Directors of the Richmond Behavioral Health Authority and as a member of the Child and Adolescent Task Force of the Chief Justice’s Commission on Mental Health Law Reform.
She has earned numerous accolades, including a Gartlan Award from the Virginia Association of Community Services Boards for outstanding children’s mental health advocacy, and the Stettinius Award for Nonprofit Leadership from The Community Foundation of Greater Richmond for demonstrating the potential for transformative leadership.
Please join us in welcoming Margaret to this new role. We remain grateful for your support of Voices for Virginia’s Children and look forward to partnering with you during this exciting season of transition.
Sincere Regards,
Stacy Hawkins Adams, Chair, Voices for Virginia’s Children Board of Directors

Dear Voices’ Supporters,
I am truly honored to have been selected as Voices’ Executive Director. I am passionate about our mission of championing public policies that improve the lives of Virginia’s children, especially the most vulnerable. Too many of the Commonwealth’s children face significant economic, educational, social and health challenges, and we will continue to find strategic and effective ways to make their voices heard.
We could not do our work without the support and partnership of many other organizations and individual child advocates. I look forward to working with all of you as we move into our 20th year as an organization.
I want to thank my outstanding co-workers at Voices for their teamwork during our time of transition and for continuing to fight for the needs of Virginia’s children. I know you will join me in thanking Amy Woolard, Cathy McCallister, Emily Griffey, Kimberly Gutzler and Ted Groves for their commitment to Virginia’s kids.
With gratitude,
Margaret Nimmo Crowe
