Northern Virginia- Opportunities for Action on Early Childhood- UPDATED

Posted:  -  By: Voices for VA's Kids

Calling all early childhood providers, supporters and parents in Northern Virginia! We encourage you to join in on our local advocacy activities focused on Alexandria, Arlington and Fairfax.

Virginia’s city and county governments are taking action to balance local budgets and set priorities for the coming year.  Local leaders matter, and your voice counts!

Fairfax County UPDATES- 4/30/14

The county budget proposed in February 2014 called for a significant new investment in early learning. As the Board of Supervisors juggled many different priorities, our task was to make sure the Board of Supervisors heard that the school readiness investment was crucial and should be included in the final budget. Great news: they heard it!

Thank you to all who joined us for the Day of Action for Early Learning! Early childhood advocates gathered to support #SchoolReadiness4NoVa and heard from local leaders and Main Street Child Development Center’s preschoolers. The Fairfax County budget hearing and rally took place during the Week of the Young Child, which provided a great opportunity to demonstrate why early childhood matters. Check out photos and video on our Facebook page.
